Discounts Available for 6th Annual Program
The Edison Electric Institute estimates some 9.6 million charge points will be needed in the U.S. by the end of the decade to support an estimated 18.7 million EVs on the road. As of April 2023, there were 136,513 charging ports at 53,764 public and private stations, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center. This massive increase in EV charging infrastructure will have important implications for the grid, and present stakeholders with significant challenges—and opportunities.
Organized by the Smart Grid Observer, the 6th EV Charging Infrastructure Summit – North America, East, January 28-29, 2025, in Atlanta will convene top industry experts and utility professionals to examine how growing EV adoption rates will impact the network, and what investments are needed to ensure grid stability and benefit. Case studies of current utility programs and deployments will be discussed with an eye toward refining strategies, identifying technologies and implementing business models that will ensure widespread EV adoption is optimized for all parties involved.
Previous editions of the forum have included presentations from PG&E, Southern California Edison, Wood Mackenzie, Amazon, Rivian, ComEd, Argonne National Lab, Xcel Energy, Volta Charging, IREC, Chargepoint, Electrify America, Baltimore Gas & Electric, Salt River Project, The Brattle Group and many others.
“We’re excited to bring together charging professionals and innovators together for face-to-face interaction and idea sharing,” says program director Dan Coran. “This format allows people to have meaningful discussions with key industry leaders and come away with a better understanding of the current EV space and what it means for them as a provider of critical charging services.”
Topics to be addressed include recent advances in EV batteries, charging and energy storage and their implications for charging infrastructure, success strategies for starting and growing a charging network in the U.S, the impact of EVs on grid operations and planning and more. Attendees will also have access to on-site exhibits showcasing technology innovations and services from companies in the field.
