So in order to kind of make this a one stop shop for Focus RS info as the name is so clear, I will add all my info I know about the conversion so far. I got the install done on the front this weekend with the blue calipers. Below is the parts list I compiled and some notes and pics.
I will be doing the rears as well with the matched blue calipers and brackets from Ford, but I am still collecting the parts for this. I will update in this thread once I do those as well.
Also, funny side note. I planned on adding the wheel bearing brackets when doing this. Apparently, I had one on the driver’s side but not on the passenger side… no clue…
My wheels are Konig Rennform 5×108, 18×8 et40 wheels. Just for a size reference.
The parts needed are from 2016 Ford Focus RS mk3. I used Motorcraft parts. From what I have read, they are the same as the Ford labeled parts. No issues with any of them.
- Front only parts
- Brembo Blue Calipers – There are silver versions as well that are more expensive?
- Left – Ford# G1FZ2B121B / Motorcraft# BRCF355
- Right – Ford# G1FZ2B120B / Motorcraft# BRCF357
- Carrier bolts x4 – Ford# W714753S442
- 9/16” good quality drill bit
- These bolts are larger than the stock Volvo bolts and you need to drill out the bolt holes in the hub to take the new bolts.
- Brake lines of your choice for the RS.
- I used the Goodridge part# 12339 Stainless lines – front and rear kit
- Only the fronts are needed but the backs will fit as well. They do not have the specific rubber attachments and bumpers on the lines to match the Volvo setup. I already had a kit from FCP Euro (I think) for the C30 and I transferred over the bumpers and such from those. It worked out good for me.
- I have seen some folks just use the stock RS lines from Ford.
- Hardware kit for the Brembos x2 (pins and brake pad spring) – Ford# G1FZ2068A
- 5mm wheel spacer required for behindthe rotor for proper alignment of the rotor to the caliper
- I used hub centric spacer from the bay. I had to turn it down to about 145mm diameter to fit inside the back of the rotor.
- I also had to file out the center bore about 1/2mm with a round file as the hub bore was slightly wider at the base.
- 350mm RS rotors of your choice x2
- I understand the Ford rotors are pretty reasonably priced. But, I did not use them.
- I used rotors from R1 Concepts, drilled and slotted, black zinc coated. They look great and I have used their rotors on several cars and never been disappointed.
- Pads for the Brembos of your choice
- I got ceramic pads from R1 Concepts as well. Low dust and respond nicely for me.
- Brake grease for all your lubrication needs
- Volvo heat shields for 320mm brake setup x2 – Volvo# 30778891
- Still not as large as the 350mm rotor, but better than the 300mm version.
- I bent the little ears straight so there was no chance to hit the rotors. I think there is clearance to not do this, but it just made more sense to me to do it.
- Brembo Blue Calipers – There are silver versions as well that are more expensive?
Old and busted
New hotness!
