P0496 EVAP System High Purge Flow | SwedeSpeed

VIN position 8 is the emission code for the US market.
This is for US spec cars. Your car should be the same.
Fuel tank, hose and systems are sealed so that they do not emit raw gas vapors into the air.
When you fill up the tank, valve 5/6 each pic, will be normally open. As new fuel goes in, tank air exits out valve 5/6 thru end filter 19/20 each pic. Charcoal canister 1 will absorb tank gas vapors. When the ECM decides to remove or pull extra #1 gas vapors, valve 5/6 will close. Valve 10/13 at radiator will open. This is connected to the intake manifold pulling the canister fuel vapors into the engine. The ECM ignores 02 sensor readings during canister gas vapor removal.
ECM logic will test the sealed fuel system for no leakage when it decides to test the system.
Your car uses engine vacuum to pull a vacuum on the sealed fuel system to test for any leaks.
This happens while driving at highway speeds. There is a vacuum sensor mounted on top of the fuel tank to tell the ECM if vacuum has been reached. No/very low/slow vacuum recording, check engine message for evap leak will be displayed.
The above is how the system works. Next is why you get an evap code.
Bad gas cap can set an evap code.
Part 10/13 that you listed can stop working. Part 5/6 can stop working, setting evap code.
There is a short rubber hose at red circle, red arrows that degrades and falls apart. Behind right rear subframe bolt area. 2nd parts pic for 2002, J hose #26 likes to crack/split open.
In the last part intake pic, rubber vacuum hose between the 2 green circles will dry out collapse and split open. If this happens, there will not be any vacuum to run the fuel system evap test. Under the intake manifold of the hose will be a one-way check valve. It stops turbo intake boost from going into the brake vacuum canister system. This one-way valve can break when removing/replacing the vacuum hoses on each side. Use Volvoparts web store and FCPEuro to search for what parts look like.
You can run an evap test using your VIDA. Engine has to be running, coolant 1/2 way, gas between 1/4 and 3/4. You may need to rev the engine to start the test. Test results can be weird to read.
It gives < and > symbols and vacuum pressure readings with a chart to follow.
If the < or > it can pass or fail, you need to read the results and look a chart for these readings.
If you do an evap smoke test from valve 10/10, you need to block off exit vent 19/20 or smoke will pour out. This is a lot to take in, do one thing at a time. You will get this fixed.

Below pic is for a 2005, I have it saved with the red arrows and circles to explain how evap works.
