Since June I am enjoying a new Volvo XC90 2025.5 Ultra trim.
It’s a fantastic ride and it goes without saying it The overall picture is terrific but there are few scratches on it.
I am not sure if those are my wrong expectations (some people say – Your expectations is your problem!) or my model has some serious faults.
I am happy to hear your voice on it and maybe guidance how to manage the situation.
I’ve obviously approached Volvo dealer on the issues, but they stopped responding and completely ignore my requests to fix several remaining issues. On few I simply gave up.
I’ve noticed a couple of recurring issues that seem to affect multiple cars, not just mine. Sharing here to see if others can confirm.
1. Paint chipping:
At the junction between the headlight and bumper, the lamp housing rubs against the bumper, tearing the paint. I’ve checked several showroom cars and saw the same thing – more pronounced on some, less on others. Attaching photos for reference. My dealer simply trimmed the edge with a knife…
2. Rear door lock issue:
With child lock enabled, after a short drive, try exiting the car via the front doors and then open the rear doors from outside. On mine, the locks don’t always engage properly – not every time, but I caught it on video 5 times in 2 days. Seems like the central locking is glitching. Sometimes the car won’t unlock at all in the morning and takes several seconds before it reacts to the handle or fob.
3. Software-related issues:
- Climate screen freezing
- Seat control menu not showing after pressing seat button
- Sunshade doesn’t close automatically after 15 minutes
- Random 5G dropouts (switches to “G!”) even with good signal, sometimes only comes back next day
- Tidal and other apps freeze daily, require resets
- Google Maps sometimes doesn’t update on main screen after route change (works on cluster though)
- A/C stayed in parking mode a few times after driving off, even in 30°C heat
- Pilot Assist pushes car off track at islands/curves, even pulled me into a turn lane once; it also triggers lane-keeping assist due to bad guidance; it generally keeps the car too close to the center
- Adaptive Cruise Control twice accelerated into traffic ahead, activating collision system + tightening seatbelts (scary moment)
- ACC doesn’t detect stationary vehicles at lights or highway blockage – potential for rear-ending stopped cars at 70 km/h on highways
- Audio system (B&W) acts up – random crackling noises, distortion, or sometimes it shuts down completely
4. Rear spoiler finish:
Mine has very sharp, rough edges. Not a big deal now, but I expect it will start chipping over time.
Thanks for your advice!
